Sporting CP vs Galatasaray

Although Galatasaray arrive in Lisbon on the back of a strong unbeaten domestic run, their poor away record in European competition and the absence of Victor Osimhen leave them vulnerable against Sporting CP. The Turkish champions remain a dangerous attacking side, but they have shown defensive weaknesses early in the campaign. Sporting, meanwhile, have made an excellent start and should be confident of making home advantage count.

Sporting have collected 13 points from their opening five domestic fixtures and have been particularly impressive in front of goal, scoring at least twice in every match. Their attacking consistency stretches even further back into pre-season, with the Portuguese side finding the net twice or more in nine consecutive games. With Luis Suárez and Pedro Gonçalves both in good form, Sporting should have plenty of opportunities to trouble a Galatasaray defence that has already conceded twice in three matches.

However, Galatasaray should not be written off in the goals market. All four of their matches so far this season have produced at least three goals, highlighting their ability to contribute to high-scoring contests. Even without Osimhen, they possess enough attacking quality to threaten Sporting's clean-sheet record, while their own defensive problems could make it difficult to keep the hosts quiet. A goal from the visitors would significantly increase the chances of this becoming an open Champions League encounter.

With both teams showing a strong appetite for attacking football, Sporting's exceptional scoring record suggests they can contribute two or more themselves, while Galatasaray have enough firepower to find a response despite Osimhen's absence. Sporting should ultimately have too much quality at home, but the visitors can help turn this into a high-scoring affair.
